Summer Shorts Trends

Here is a quick overview of the shorts that are making the rounds this summer.

Starting with my favourite.

The high waisted shorts.

The high waisted shorts have made a comeback and they look super cute. a gift for any woman who has a questionable waistline yet amazing legs.

another rule of thumb – when going for high waisted shorts, the higher the better. Because the higher the waist, the longer and more streamlined your legs will looked. This is because you are giving the illusion of longer legs by starting the waist higher than you normally would. Therefore this is an even better bet for those short women who aren’t just satisfied with short shorts and tall heels.

Mischa Barton seems to love the high waited trend.

The patterned shorts:

Floral patterns are liked by almost everyone, me being an exception to the almost rule. So when you don’t like floral patterns you can always go for other patterns.

Although I wouldn’t necessarily go for these shorts I would prefer something more defined and streamlined. But polka dots are always pretty.

If you are a plump person wearing a slightly longer pair of patterned shorts remember that smaller patterns suit plump people while larger patterns suit petite people.

The formal shorts:

For those who are bold enough to wear a pair of shorts to a place where it required the clothing to be formal then these are the pair for you. Or maybe you just can’t get enough of the shorts trend, Or maybe it’s just THAT hot in India. Whichever your reason, the formal shorts are a lovely thing to own and a trend that isn’t just a trend but a style that is worth investing in.

The Jason Wu shorts (left) are a beautiful sleek pair. For some reason the grey make it more formal but less depressing (like most formal wear) but for my pair of shorts (right) I’d prefer it if it were more still and dark because I like the slimming effect it has on my waist.

The boyfriend inspired shorts:

loose, comfortable and casual. What shorts should really be. For those thinking that men always have had better and more comfortable clothing the new wave of boyfriend / menswear inspired clothing are a must have, i own a few in my cupboard myself. But a menswear inspired pair of shorts are something that is still on my wishlist for the simple reason that I can’t find a good pair anywhere where i live. for those with the body that can rock this trend, go out and pick up a pair.

This is also a good bet for those women who aren’t really used to wearing shorts and are just dipping their toe into the trend to test it. they are more comfortable and less revealing. So even if you find you aren't very comfortable going beyond these, they are still a god way to live the summer.

My favourite shorts trends are listed above. I hope you found this useful and I am sure that you can find these shorts anywhere in your nearby lifestyle / esprit etc.

Traditional South Indian Cafe

My favourite place in chennai. The best coffee I’ve ever had in my life, except for my mum’s coffee. I decided to pop in one afternoon and take a picture of the settings before they had opened.

MNG Parfums - Delirium

Do you know what being caught in the rain in a store can do? It can make you shop….A LOT. Or, like in my case, it can help you find your new favourite perfume.

MNG, otherwise known as mango (but you already knew that, didn’t you) has a rather interesting set of perfumes, did you know? I didn’t because it isn’t listed on their site. But i came to know yesterday when I was stuck without an umbrella, in Hi-Style Anna Nagar, because of the sudden heavy rains.

Browsing around, I got quite a few stuff. Then since the rain didn’t seem like it was going to give in, i decided to venture into the perfume section.

Now I religiously avoid the perfume sections in stores because I love them and tend to spend a bit too much. Buying a few pairs of accessories might set you back about 5000/- bucks, but buying a few bottles of perfumes would set you back probably by 15,000/- and I am very capable of liking about 10 perfumes at a time.

So now coming to the one that I purchased out of the 8 that I liked. MNG Delirium. A lovely little perfume available in both 30ML and 60ML bottles.

It has notes of Gardenia, Coconut, Musk, Vanilla, Heliotrope, lily of the valley, mandarin flower, Tiare flower and it is all tied together with some fruity notes. Atleast that's what it says online.

The first notes are very normal and the moment you cent it on, it is very alcoholly, as are most perfumes. but a few minutes later it starts smelling heavenly. One of my favourites and for me, personally it is a very very feel good perfume.

at 900/- for 30ML and 1150/- for 60 Ml i’d say it is a hell of a deal.

Pick it up if you’re looking for a quick perk me up, or are someone who likes girly but not overly sweet fragrances.

What i’d wear it for:

It’s a very dating fragrance, very fresh, floral, innocent and most importantly, feminine. Perfect for teenagers and those in their 20s.

I wonder where to officially buy them considering that MNG doesn’t list them on the site, but for now, hunting in stores will have to suffice.

On the top of a lorry

A friend had to do some shifting and I went over to help her out. Once all the luggage was loaded on the truck, we got onto her scooter to find that it wasn’t starting.

After a brief bit of cursing and kicking stones we decided to hitch a ride on the truck. So the chasing began. thankfully the guy wasn’t driving very fast and we managed to catch up with him. because there was no space up front and we being the brats we are, we decided to climb up on top and enjoy the breeze while sitting on some rolled up mattresses.

It took quite a while to reach but this picture was worth the bum-ache.
